Experimental Pell Grant

Columbiana County Career & Technical Center was selected to participate in experimental federal programs that offer Pell Grants to students who otherwise would not be eligible. The program is only available at 24 schools across the country and CCCTC is the only participating school in Ohio. One program allows CCCTC to award Pell Grants to eligible unemployed or underemployed students enrolled in one year or less vocational or career programs who have previously earned a bachelor’s degree. The other program allows CCCTC to award Pell Grants to otherwise eligible students who are enrolled in short-term training programs that are not normally Pell Grant eligible programs. Sixty percent of applications are in a treatment group that is awarded Pell Grant funds even though under regular circumstances would not be eligible. The remaining 40 percent are in a comparison group that will not be eligible for Pell Grant funding just as they would not be eligible if there were no experimental programs. Please contact Alex Porter, Financial Aid Coordinator, at 330-424-9561 ext.116 to see if you are eligible.
