OPOTA Police Academy

BASIC POLICE ACADEMY (OPOTA) 
 Students can complete this program in 9 months, start to finish, ending with a State of Ohio Peace Officer Training Certificate.  The CCCTC Police Academy is administered under the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council, and is required training to become an police officer in the State of Ohio. At CCCTC Police Academy you will enjoy small class sizes, lowest tuition in the area and a high-quality learning environment. A career in Police or Policing is considered and in demand career field with plenty of job opportunities locally. 
 
The training program consists of 777 hours, offered in 9 months.  The program qualifies for several grant and funding options.  Contact Alex at 330-424-9561 ext. 116 to discuss your financial aid options.    Students will be required to purchase their own firearms, handcuffs, and gun belt.  
 
Commander Ciotti has been a leader in  Law Enforcement for many years and is thrilled to have an Academy in our county.   He along with many other local professional law enforcement officers will expertly provide classroom instruction needed to work in criminal justice.

Many job openings exist for those with the knowledge and skills to navigate our legal and correction systems.  Becoming a Police Officer is a very rewarding career with many job opportunities in law enforcement and criminal justice system. 
 

Enrollment Requirements to join CCCTC Police Academy:
  • Pass an Entrance Physical Test;
  • 21 Years of Age;   
  • Meet BCI/FBI Background check requirements;
  • Pass Drug Screen
  • High School Graduate or equivalent; and
  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Firearms
  • Driving
  • Subject Control Techniques
  • First Aide/CPR/AED
 
Credentials you will Earn:
  • State of Ohio Peace Officer Certification
Start Date:  Next academy begins September 2024
 
Evening Program
Monday- Thursday – 5:00pm -10:00 pm
Various Saturdays throughout the program
 

As a minimum requirement all CCCTC Adult Education programs require students to hold a High School Diploma or GED.  See Handbook (under helpful links & forms) for specific admission requirements.

 

Students are offered instruction on using specific computer applications needed for all programs.  However, it is helpful for students to be familiar with use of a personal computer to navigate computer applications used in all CCCTC Adult Education programs.

 

The  CCCTC Student Consumer Handbook has all of the specific information regarding programs at CCCTC. This handbook answers many questions not found elsewhere and is used to guide our policies and procedures for CCCTC Adult Education Programs.
