MAC Trailer makes big donation to CCCTC Adult Education Welding Program

Adult Ed welding students with MAC Trailer Donation

Christmas came early for the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center (CCCTC) Adult Education Welding Program when MAC Trailer donated a brand new state of the art Fronius Welder. MAC Trailer has been on the CCCTC Adult Education Advisory Board for many years and a valuable partner in shaping curriculum and advising on best practices in the industry. Due to recent growth and expansion, MAC Trailer is hopeful the new equipment will allow CCCTC to help fill the pipeline of potential welders to be hired into MAC Trailer. “We cannot hire enough good welders and are experiencing a shortage in many of our positions. There is definitely a shortage for many companies, especially in skilled labor,” said Gary Conny, director of organizational development for MAC Trailer. “We already hire a large number of welders from CCCTC in both our Alliance and Salem plants. Jeff Sheen from Mac’s refuse Plant was instrumental in arranging for the donation of the Fronius Welder to CCCTC Adult Education. The Fronius Welders are an amazing piece of equipment for training new welders. They are user friendly for both new welders and seasoned welders as they only require four steps to set up with many applications pre-programmed.  CCCTC is using the Fronius Welder primarily for aluminum welding processes, which is what MAC Trailer needs graduates to have. “However, this machine can easily be programmed to perform Mig, Tig, and Stick welding applications,” he said. “We are very fortunate to have MAC as an industry partner and cannot thank them enough for the gift,” said Terry Hutson, adult education assistant director. CCCTC Adult Education starts new welding programs twice a year and is currently enrolling for the January semester. To register, call 330-424-9562 ext 176.
