Medical Office Technology

Medical Billers and Coders play an important role in the office where they work. Their specialized training puts them in high demand, and opportunities for experienced billers exist in every office, clinic, hospital, and insurance company. This program prepares individuals to perform tasks related to the management of health information. Strong emphasis is placed on medical terminology and medical coding and billing skills. In addition to these skills, office communications, business computer applications, records management, and office procedures are emphasized.
 

 Course Description

Curriculum will include:
1st Semester
 - Introduction to Medical Insurance
 - Medical Terminology
 - Administrative Medical Office
 - Professional Development
 - Keyboarding

2nd Semester
 - Electronic Medical Records
 - Medical Office Practice
 - Physicians Coding & Billing
 - Professional Development
 - Externship

 Employment Opportunities Include:
 - Medical Clerk
 - Unit Secretary / Monitor Tech.
 - Medical Records Transcriptionist
 - Medical Billing / Coding Specialist
 - Hospital Coders
 - Medical Office Administrators

Length of Program:


2 semesters, 450 hours each semester as scheduled.


Dates and Times:
 


Fall 2021 semester begins September 1st 
Monday through Thursday, Classes scheduled between 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.


Cost:


(includes ICD-10 & CPT books and course fees).
Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
ALL lab fees MUST be paid in full prior to the semester starting.


Credentials you will be eligible to earn:


State of Ohio Vocational Certificate
- ACA Coding Certification (must pass physician coding at 90% to sit for exam)
- CMPC-POL (Cert. Medical Practice Coder-Physician Office Laboratory

 
As a minimum requirement all CCCTC Adult Education programs require students to hold a High School Diploma or GED. 
 
Students are offered instruction on using specific computer applications needed for all programs.  However, it is helpful for students to be familiar with use of a personal computer to navigate computer applications used in all CCCTC Adult Education programs.
